Lambda (Oxygen) Sensors for the Nissan Elgrand E50 1997-2002– Pre-Cat & Post-Cat Explained

A lambda sensor, also known as the oxygen sensor, plays a vital role in managing your Nissan Elgrand E50's fuel mixture and emissions.

These sensors monitor oxygen levels in the exhaust to help the ECU adjust performance and maintain efficiency.

Elgrands typically have multiple sensors:

  • Pre-cat (upstream) sensors – before the catalytic converter, adjust the air-fuel ratio

  • Post-cat (downstream) sensors – after the catalytic converter, monitor its efficiency

In V6 models, you may see terms like Bank 1 Sensor 1 (upstream, cylinder 1 side) or Bank 2 Sensor 2 (downstream, opposite side).

Bank 1 Sensor 1 = upstream sensor on side with cylinder 1

Bank 1 Sensor 2 = downstream sensor on same side

Bank 2 Sensor 1 = upstream sensor on opposite side

Bank 2 Sensor 2 = downstream sensor on opposite side

We stock quality lambda sensors for the Nissan Elgrand E50, with assured fitment for Japanese import models.
